TEAM CRACKPOT (ED NOTE: I call them that, they don't) has finally taken their well deserved positions as Queens of the Beach.

Jen Kessy and April Ross have been kicking ass around the world. Everywhere, that is, except at home in the USA. What better way to get their first California Tournament win than by taking down Misty May and Nicole Branagh?

Team Crackpot has been competing heavily across the planet taking tourney after tourney. However, victory in the United States has been elusive. Many blamed their successes AGAINST THE WORLD as merely a fluke.. after all Misty May hasn't played much in the FIVB (or anywhere for that matter) in the last year.

But now, the big check goes to them. It was an inspired victory. After getting through the tournament, they never went more than 2 matches in any game, they were stonewalled  14-21 by May/Branagh. But they fought back, tweaking a few strategy points then smoting team May Branagh team 21-12 and 15-11. This was the most decisive defeat handed to Misty May in recent or long term memory.

When first announced, I thought the May/Branagh pairing was unbeatable. But their chemistry has just been plain lacking, they even dropped a game to Brooke Hanson and Lisa Rutelede (ranked #8).

Now that Kessy and Ross have taken their first big tourney we shojudl be expecting huge things out of them. While they have been beaten this year, it looks like they finally have found their groove and are ready to rule the beach.
