BACK, SHOWKILLER! PDF Print E-mail

ImageImageUuuhhhh ohhhhh. Kidnapped is vanishing from the schedule, being replaced by 3Lbs, a drama starring Stanley Tucci and...Mark Feuerstein. Plus Runaway has...uh, run away from the schedule. This looks like a good time to re-visit our Showkillers List.

It looks like Angie Harmon may be reversing her curse since Secrets of a Small Town may be a mid-season replacement. However, we can now add Dana Delaney, and Donnie Wahlberg. Mark my words, we'll soon add Gale Harold and Rebecca Gayheart, and Leslie (Commander-in-Chief, Runaway) Hope, look out.

Dana Delaney: Presidio Med, Pasadena, Kidnapped. Back away from pilot season, Ms Delaney. Just baaack away.Image

ImageDonnie Wahlberg: Boomtown and now Runaway. Ok, technically two shows only puts him on the Watch list, but come on, it's Donnie Wahlberg. We can add New Kids on the Block too.

Gale Harold: Queer as Folk, Deadwood, and soon will be Vanished. Yes, I suppose you could argue that Vanished killed him, but still.

Rebecca Gayheart: Wasteland, Dead Like Me, and of course Beverly Hills 90210, although, like Mr. Harold above, one could argue that 90210 killed her.

And I made an egregious error in forgetting to add the King of Showkillers to my previous list. That would of course be:Image

Ted McGinley: The Love Boat,  Hope & Faith and Sports Night. That's right Ace, I'm talking to you. Anyone who kills The Love Boat doesn't deserve to work.

ImageLet’s take a look at the rest of the schedule. There’s been some buzz that The Class will be soon to go, and that the Knights of Prosperity will never go at all. (A shame, since that was a very funny pilot.) In which case, we should place Jason Ritter and Donal Logue on the Watch list:

Jason Ritter: Joan of Arcadia, and The Class.

Donal Logue: Grounded for Life, Knights of Prosperity

Yes, I see the irony that our two new show killers are/were on the show that is still on the schedule, while the stars of our vanished show, namely Timothy Hutton, Dana Delaney, and Jeremy Sisto, have not reached official show killer status. Don’t worry, there is still time. If they can kill one show, surely they can kill more.

Of course then there is Smith, cancelled almost as soon as it started, which actually brings up a whole different issue: Movie Actors Who Kill Shows. But I'll save that for another time.
